We offer a one one-on one, fully guided and outfitted brown bear hunt.  This is a full 10 days of hunting with one fly-in day on either end (a total of 12 days.)  Spring dates between April 10 - May 5 and fall dates are August 10 - September 1.  We pick you up in Anchorage and fly you from Willow into camp and return you to Anchorage afterwards.  All flying to and from the hunting area will be included in the price of the hunt.  This price includes all meals, guide fees, and equipment.  The only thing not included in the hunt is your airfare to Anchorage, hunting license, personal gear, and gratuities.  This hunt is out of the Donkey Lake Cabin.  In the spring, we use snowmobiles and snowshoes to get to the areas where we glass for new dens opening up and fresh tracks.  In the fall, most of the hunting will be done on foot, watching salmon streams for feeding bears.  The success rate on this hunt is 80% with bears averaging 8ft.  The fall hunt also has black bear available for an additional $500 trophy fee.

Affordable Brown Bear Hunts

I have been asked many times, "How can I go on a brown bear hunt in Alaska without spending $10,000 -$12,000?"  Some of the hunters who ask this question have hunted moose in Alaska without a guide and would like to hunt brown bear on their own.  However, by law, you must have a guide to hunt brown bear in Alaska.  For these type hunters, I have come up with an affordable solution.  I have a two-on-one (2 x 1) brown bear hunt in Unit 16B.  This is a no-frills type of hunt.  You will supply your own food and do your own cooking.  We will supply the guide, all the necessary camping gear and cooking utensils.  This hunt is out of our Donkey Lake cabin, which makes it nice if we get a lot of rain or bad weather.  Another bonus to this hunt is there is no additional transportation costs after you arrive in Anchorage.  We will pick you up in Anchorage and take you to a grocery store to get your supplies.  Next we will drive to Willow where you will purchase your hunting license and tags.  Then we fly you out to the bush for your hunt.   In the spring, we will also have snowmobiles available; in order to cover more ground looking for fresh dens and tracks.  In the fall, most of the hunting will be done on foot, watching salmon streams for bears.  The fall hunt also has black bear available for additional $500 trophy fee.  Your guide will do his best to get you a bear, but you need to be physically fit and able to hunt hard.  The success rate on this hunt is better than 50%, with bears averaging about 8 ft.  This is a 10-day hunt with spring dates between  April 10 - May 5.  Fall dates are August 10 - September 1.

We now offer a baited black bear hunt in Unit 16.  There are far too many bears in Unit 16 and Fish & Game has liberalized the seasons and bag limits.  The season is now year-round and the bag limit is three per person.  This is a two-on-one (2 x 1) guided hunt.  This is a great father-son hunt, a hunt for two hunters that have hunted together quite a bit.  You must have your own partner; we do not put groups together for our 2 x 1 hunts.  This hunt is fully outfitted with all meals included.  We will pick you up in Anchorage and fly you to the Shulin Lake cabin.  There are no additional transportation costs.  There are lots of black bears and some very big ones if you are able to pass some up and wait for the big one.  This hunt is a five-day/six-night trip between May 10 - June 10.

Cost:  2 x 1 - $2500.00 per person.  This includes the trophy fee on your first bear.  Trophy fee for each additional bear is $500.00.  Additional costs include hunting license, tags and guide tips.

Black Bear/Brown Bear Combo

If you would like to have the opportunity to hunt brown and black bear, here is a deal for you.  This is the same hunt as the Baited Black Bear hunt, except we also take a boat and hunt the river for brown bears.  The days are long, so can hunt over bait in the evenings for black bear, and look for brown bear the rest of the day.  Or, while your partner is on a bait station, you can look for brown bears; then switch the next day.  Or you can both get your black bear, and then spend the remainder of your hunt looking for a brown bear.  This hunt is fully outfitted with all meals included.  We will pick you up in Anchorage and fly you to the Shulin Lake Cabin.  This is a five-day/six-night trip between  May 10 - May 30.  Brown bears are out of their dens during this time, but the fish have not arrived yet, so the bears can be tough to find.  We will spend a lot of time watching the river for one to show up.  Remember, the main focus of this hunt is black bear, so if your goal is brown bear, this is not the hunt for you.  If you just can't afford a brown bear hunt, but would like to come to Alaska and hunt trophy black bear with the opportunity to hunt brown bear, and take one if it presents itself, then this is the hunt for you.  This is also a great father-son hunt.

Cost:  2 x 1 - $3900.00 per person.  This includes the trophy fee on your first black AND brown bear.  Trophy fee for each additional black bear is $500.00.  Additional costs include hunting license, tags and guide tips.
