GUIDED MOOSE HUNTS

Remote Cabin -Nowitna River

Willow Air will now be offering guided moose hunts out of our cabin in some of the best moose hunting country Alaska has to offer. This country is extremely remote and we are very fortunate to have a rustic but dry and comfortable cabin there. This country is hard to access and over the years there has been little to no hunting pressure from anyone else. Most guides operating in this part of the country work out of tents, but with this hunt you have the luxury to hunt out of a warm and dry cabin. This make it much easier to fight the unpredictable weather that Western Alaska sometimes dishes out.  We have been very successful there over the years with self-guided hunts. Our success rate has been 80% with our self-guided hunts out of this cabin with bulls averaging over 60 inches.

We had 2 guided hunters in the cabin in September 2008, James  Wendt and his son, Ben Wendt.  They harvested a 64" and 67" trophy moose.  Before that, the last year we hunted this area was 2005.  There was two hunters in the cabin then Salvatore Carlomango and Bob Wozniak, both avid bow hunters from New York. We dropped them off and four days later they called on their satellite phone and let us know they were done and ready to be picked up. Salvatore had killed his 60 inch bull at 10 yards with a single arrow, and Bob had made an amazing shot at 75 yards killing his 63 inch bull with a single arrow also.

 


We will be limiting it to four hunters for the entire season. Two hunters on the first hunt September 5-14 and two on the second hunt September 16-25. Another advantage you will have hunting with Willow Air is the fact we own our own airplanes and don’t have to rely on someone else to fly you in and out of the bush. Once at the cabin, hunting will be done with a jet boat making it possible to cover many miles a day in search of that trophy bull. Hunts will be 10 days with one guide and a jet boat for each hunter, optimizing your chances for success.

There are also wolf and wolverine in the area and can be taken at no additional charge. Grizzly Bear, Black Bear, and occasional Caribou can also be taken for a trophy fee.

(This is a draw area for moose and applications are due by November 30th of the year  before the hunt.)

TENT CAMP GUIDED HUNTS

We also offer guided moose hunts out of comfortable tent camps on the Innoko River.  This area is known for producing some of the biggest bulls Alaska has to offer.  We hunt remote areas along the Innoko and use jet boats to get way back into remote, hard to get to areas.  These hunts are one-on-one, fully guided and outfitted.  Dates are September 5-12 and September 13-20.  Wolves and wolverine are available at no additional charge and black and brown bear can be taken for an additional trophy fee.
